Niah National Park
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 27, 2024, Niah National Park is renowned for its archaeological and cultural significance. Located on the western coast of Borneo, it is the site of the oldest human remains in Southeast Asia, offering a rare glimpse into early human history. Echoes of 40,000 years of human presence resonate through its vast limestone caves.
Today, Niah remains a living cultural landscape, where the Penan community continues the age-old tradition of harvesting edible bird’s nests from the cave’s towering walls.
With its deep historical roots and enduring cultural heritage, Niah Cave stands as one of Malaysia’s most treasured national sites.
