What to prepare
You do not need to prepare any special gear for the canopy walk. Wearing comfortable, lightweight clothing is ideal, especially in Sabah’s warm and humid climate. For footwear, supportive walking shoes with a good grip are recommended, as the uphill trail leasding to the canopy can be slippery after rain. Packing insect repellent and sunscreen will make you walk more comfortable.

What to expect
When you reach Poring, all visitors are required to pay an entrance fee, regardless of whether or not you decide to book a stay at the chalets. Access to the canopy walk requires an additional ticket, with different rates for Malaysian and international visitors. It is open daily from 9am to 4pm, so make plans to walk earlier in the day. From the ticket booth, expect a steady uphill walk through the forest to reach the starting point. Take your point, enjoy the surroundings, and treat this section as part of experience rather than a rush to the top.
At the canopy
At the entrance to the canopy walk, an attendant will check your ticket before allowing entry. There is clear signage that reminds visitors that no more than six people should be on a section at one time, so patience is key. The walk is designed to be taken slowly.

There are three connected circuits, with a total length of about 373m and heights reaching up to 41m, depending on the terrain below. The canopy walkway consists of rope and steel suspension bridges, reinforced with side netting for safety. The first section is relatively short, around 20m, and partially enclosed by trees, making it a gentle introduction. As you progress, the walkways become longer and more exposed. At certain points, the forest opens up to reveal sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and distant mountains.
How longs the walk takes

The canopy walk itself does not take long and typically takes between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the crowds and how often you stop to enjoy the views. Combining the uphill walk and the rest breaks, the total canopy walk will take roughly an hour.
